In the Nursery and Pre-Prep the curriculum concentrates on literacy, numeracy and Science. Geography, History and Design Technology are taught through topic work, and French, Religious Studies and ICT also become part of the curriculum. Art, Music and P.E. are taught throughout. Pre-Prep children benefit from using Prep School facilities, such as the sports hall, gym, swimming pool and music room and from the expertise of Prep School staff in a number of subject areas, in particular Sport and Music. Throughout the school it is our aim to teach each child according to their individiual needs and ability and the Pre-Prep achieve this through small group work within the class.
The Prep School curriculum continues as in the top years of the Pre-Prep; for the first two years, children are still taught for most subjects by their class teacher, but with increasing specialist subject teaching and the addition of a second language (Spanish or Latin) by the age of 10. Science is taught in a superbly appointed laboratory and Art and Music both also feature strongly. As they move into the Prep School, children will begin to be 'set' within their year group for Maths and setting is slowly introduced to all core-curriculum subjects in the final two years. Sport remains a strong feature in the curriculum.
