Second Hand Uniform

The second-hand shop is run as a separate entity from the school on a charitable basis. It is staffed and administered entirely by volunteers, usually current mothers. Its purpose is to sell good quality used uniform and sports kit at reasonable prices and use the money raised to buy items for the benefit of the school.

The shop is situated on the top floor of the main school building, next to the Simmonds shop (school uniform supplier).

The shop is open every weekday morning during term time from approximately 8.15am until 9.15am. Very occasionally the shop may not be open due to unforeseen circumstances.

The shop sells a wide variety of second-hand MHS uniform and sports kit as well as wellies, trainers, hockey sticks, tennis rackets, riding boots, riding hats, ski gear and wetsuits (subject to availability). It also sells new MHS items such as swimming goggles, house swimming hats, mouth-guards, kit bags, baseball caps and wet tops.

Parents are welcome to bring in good quality, laundered and saleable items to be sold in the shop on their behalf. Items should be given to the parent on duty or, when the shop is closed, left outside the shop with the seller’s name clearly marked.

Please note that the shop reserves the right to decline to accept items which are torn or damaged or badly soiled. These items will not be sold or returned to parents and will be disposed of via clothing recycling banks.

For items sold on behalf of parents at £5 and above, the proceeds are split on a 50/50 basis between the shop and the parent. The proceeds of items sold for less than £5 are retained fully by the shop.

Please note that for the time being, the full amount received for wet tops only will be passed on to parents.

The Treasurer distributes monies back to parents once a year at the beginning of the autumn term by way of cheque. Please note that monies are only paid out to parents once they reach £10 or above. Amounts less than £10 remain in the shop account and are rolled over to the following year.

If you have any questions about the shop, please speak to whoever is on duty in the shop or, when closed, the shop manager, Annie Rusling on 07714 750510.
