Friends of MHS
The ‘Friends’ are a committee who arrange social events for the parents, staff, governors and children of the School. This extends from offering coffee and a chat to prospective parents on Open Days to hosting the Biennial Summer Ball.
Their purpose is social rather than fundraising (although they do raise impressive sums for charities chosen by the children at the annual Christmas Fair) and in most cases they simply cover their costs for each event. When surplus funds do become available, these are often used to finance discrete projects for the school that would not ordinarily be funded out of fee income. These projects have included a playhouse for the Nursery, a dome to house the school telescope, picnic benches around the playground and audio visual equipment for boarders.
