Pre Prep
Firing children's imaginations
Just because a solid grounding in literacy and numeracy is vital, it doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! Learning in the Pre-Prep years, from age 4 to 7, is all about discovery, excitement and enjoyment. The Pre-Prep facilities (including computer room, library and cosy classrooms), and the fantastic school grounds provide the perfect environment for this learning to take place.

The Pre-Prep is divided into three year groups, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, with two classes of just 16 children per year. Almost all the children who attended Nursery move up to the Pre-Prep. With a class teacher and teaching assistant for each small class, we are really able to give each boy and girl the attention he or she needs.
The register is taken at 8.45am and all children stay for school lunch at midday. The school day ends for Reception children at 3.00pm. Year 1 and Year 2 children are collected at 3.40pm although there are club and crèche options available until 5.30pm.
The Pre-Prep is led by Mrs Nash who teaches French to all the children, shares their lunchtime, takes assemblies and listens to each child read every week. The Pre-Prep staff includes specialist Music and ICT teachers and PE & Games are taught by Prep school specialists. Topic work, covering Science and the Humanities, provides further scope for capturing and channelling children’s interest and enthusiasm.
Values continue to be at the core of what we do and encouraging the children to work hard, have good manners and be kind underpins the Pre-Prep approach.
