Tell us about your path into your job at MHS:

I am very proud of my medical training at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London.  I spent 6 months specialising in acute vascular surgery then went travelling around the world which unintentionally lasted 2.5 years!  I ended up singing in a band which I continued to do once back in the UK. This led me to a job in the live music events industry – I had the tough job (!) of looking after the artists on event nights, including Simple Minds, Manic Street Preachers, Oasis, Tom Jones, to name a few!  I then returned to nursing at King's College London for eight years. My husband and I moved from Dulwich, London to Kent when our eldest daughter was 4 and I became a nurse in a Prep school so I could be with my children in the holidays.

What do you love most about working at MHS? 

The staff - they really do care so much about the children, I have made some lovely friends here - and the homemade cheese straws for snack!

What were you like at school?

All of my reports stated I was "easily distracted".

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a nurse/paramedic - or David Bowie's wife!

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?

My return to the NHS during the pandemic lockdown - it was an indescribable time and very emotional, but I have no regrets and am proud to have been on the front line in the High Dependency Unit in The William Harvey hospital - despite a patient giving me COVID which meant I spent Christmas in bed and away from my family.

What are you most excited about this term/year?

Having lived in the Boarding House and run the boarding programme for 4 years, my family and I moved back to our lovely house which we built 15 years ago!  It is just wonderful to be home.

What makes Marlborough House such a special place to be?

The happy children, the beautiful grounds and the staff.

Unusual fact: I got through to the 3rd round of auditions on the X Factor many years ago and have danced on stage with John Bon Jovi at the old Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 people!

Most memorable moment at MHS: The last two weeks of every Christmas term.  It is just magical: silly fun, decorations, music and crazy costumes everywhere and completed with a beautiful candlelit evening Carol service at the Church.
