Colour Run Fun!

Awdry House Colour Run 2019

What a fantastic event!  362 children, parents, staff and past pupils took part in our first ever Colour Run at Marlborough House School. The event started with all the families, children and staff gathering together in front of the Sports Hall. The atmosphere was electric, it was a beautifully sunny day and thanks go to Freddie Latham-Coyle (MHS 2004 - 2014) from FTB events, who supplied the super loud PA system that had everyone  dancing with excitement waiting for the event to start. Our very own Mr Little (Head of Awdry) led the proceedings with a bang getting the crowds even more excited for the event ahead.

Mr Little introduced Suzi Mitchell (CEO and Founder of our chosen Charity 'Taylor-Made Dreams') who gave a very moving talk about her wonderful local charity that enables children with life limiting illnesses to achieve their dreams when time is precious. They are offered support needed to enable them to tick off their ‘bucket list’ and also support their families. The charity was inspired by Suzi’s late son Taylor who lived with a terminal condition for several years.

Steve then handed over the lead to two of our parents,  Laura Bellhouse and Corinne French who gave everyone a fantastic and very active warm up.  Then it was time to start the proceedings for the run! Mr Little gathered the first group, the Senior School,  for their colour explosion moment and the air was filled with multicolours which looked amazing and the joy on everyone’s faces as the colours filled the air was magical.

Then they were off, followed by the Middle School and the Pre-Prep. The participants ran around the 2km route which snaked around our beautiful grounds.  The participants ran through various paint stations, where wonderful Awdry parents and staff volunteers threw more colours at the runners. There were a few obstacles along the way to make it even more fun.   The route finished with a climb up the hill by the astro  to the last paint station followed by a bubble station to run through. Once finished the children all lined the route to support the rest of the runners coming in, it was a lovely sight to see. Everyone made it around the route and finished it with beaming smiles and multicoloured!

Thank you everyone for joining in with the event and creating an amazing atmosphere and for taking part. Almost every child in the school and their families were there to raise money for Taylor-Made Dreams. It was a wonderful way to end another super term!

A huge thank you to our wonderful sponsors for their incredible donations towards our Colour Run which enabled us to raise so much money (total to follow!):
