Marlborough House School

Personal Development

Spiritual, Moral, Cultural and Social Development

In order to achieve our aims, curriculum objectives and promulgate our values, the children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is given strong emphasis. This is achieved by links made in subject teaching, an effective Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE) programme and excellent pastoral care.

Throughout the school, numerous opportunities are provided for reflection.  In particular the woodland learning area provides a natural and inspiring focal point

Throughout the school PSHEE and Citizenship is an integral part of the curriculum.  In addition, the Prep School follows a programme of discrete lessons taught by the Form Tutors where issues such as bullying, healthy living and  school values are a focus.

Year 8 receive specialist taught sessions within their PSHEE programme covering areas such as relationships and sex and drugs education. Other aspects of citizenship are covered in our Leavers’ Programme such as the British value of democracy and the rule of law and liberty.  The Year 7 Social Entrepreneur Scheme also  provides children with experience of financial management and marketing.

Pupils are exceptionally well-behaved and polite.  They care about others and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent
