MHS children present cheques to chosen charities
It's been another wonderful year of Charity fundraising! Over £12,500 presented to different charities.
On Monday cheques worth over £12,500 were presented to five charities in a special Assembly for the whole school.
Each House had carried out their fundraising activities in the preceding terms and children from each of the Houses spoke about what they had done. They explained that they had came up with some wonderful ideas to raise funds for their chosen charities: a talent competition, book sale, a music ‘Practiceathon’, a Summer Fete, a 42-mile Swimathon - to name a few.
Our respective Heads of Houses presented individual cheques for over £1,300 to Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust, Canine Partners, Imagination Library and Hospice in the Weald. A further cheque for £7,926.10 was presented by our Head Boy and Head Girl to the Headmaster's charity, Cancer Research.
Fundraising and community initiatives are an important part of school life as they not only provide the children with wonderful opportunities to extend their learning, but they instil in pupils a strong sense of their place in the wider community and in doing so, reinforce the school ethos of ‘Value Self, Value Others’.
Very well done to all, we are delighted with the sums raised for these wonderful charities.
