Snapshot Interview

What inspired you to be a teacher?

I always wanted to be a teacher from a young age and used to play ‘teachers’ with my dolls when I was a young girl. After I completed some work experience at a primary school when I was sixteen, that firmed my decision that I wanted to work with children and be able to create opportunities for a child to develop a lifelong desire for learning.

Tell us about your path into teaching:

After school and taking a gap year, I went to The University of the West of England, where I completed my BA (Hons) degree in Primary Teaching Education. During the three years I was at university, I had experience teaching in a range of primary schools around Bristol. After graduating, I moved to London where I started my first teaching job at Broomwood School, a Prep School in Clapham. I was there for six years where I taught across EYFS and KS1. I then moved to Pembridge Hall, an all-girls school in Notting Hill where I taught in Reception for four years before moving to Kent.

What do you love most about teaching?

I love how every day is different, no two days are the same.

What were you like at school?

I absolutely loved school. I would say I was very well-behaved and eager to please!

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A nurse.

What’s the funniest moment you’ve had in a classroom?

Early in my teaching career it always made me giggle when a child would accidentally call me ‘Mummy’!

What’s the most important lesson you can teach?

To always have a go and believe in yourself.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?

I feel very privileged to have taught at three highly renowned prep schools so far in my teaching career.
