What inspired you to be a teacher? 

Being bored at school in certain lessons! Then going to special school in the VIth Form which was truly amazing and showed me what teaching could achieve..

Tell us about your path into teaching:

I went to a 'hot house' Girls’ Grammar School in Leicester and then to Cambridge - where I also met my husband.  I had some interesting teaching experiences, including going to a very challenging school in London on the Mayor’s scheme to introduce Latin in schools where no Latin had even been taught. I taught a group of Year 8 using the Daily Mail! They asked me back.

What do you love most about teaching?

No lesson is ever the same, no day is ever the same.

What were you like at school?

Vocal and political!  As Deputy Head Girl I made some changes ie. getting the VIth Form uniform changed, initiating social events with our boys' school and a Prefect pantomime.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I cannot remember wanting to be anything but a teacher.

What’s the most important lesson you can teach?

Tolerance, mutual respect

What are you most excited about at Marlborough House this term/year?

How life has been as near to normal as possible in these very unusual times and how supportive everyone is to each other.

What makes Marlborough House such a special place to be?

My children came here as pupils and now my grandchildren are here and it has helped to make them people of whom I am very proud.
