The Summer Concert and Art Trail

The Music

The much-loved MHS Summer Concert and Art Trail was a real celebration of hard work, commitment, and most of all enjoyment in music-making.  Every group in the Prep School performed with such confidence and huge smiles.  The Junior Choir’s rendition of ‘Kung Fu fighting’ complete with dance moves set the audience alight with energy, contrasting beautifully with Senior Choir’s calm and poignant ‘Fix You’ by Coldplay.  From recorders to violins, saxophones to trumpets, theinstrumental abilities on show were most impressive.  All the children involved should feel incredibly proud of their time on stage – a very fitting end to such a wonderful term at MHS.

The Art

This year’s Art Trail showcased the creativity of all year groups through a vibrant mix of mediums and subjects, transforming the MHS campus into a lively outdoor gallery.

A strong 3D focus featured imaginative rainforest flowers, insects, and impressive flying carp kites from Years 3 to 5. Year 6 reimagined ‘shoes for artists’, blending artistic styles with their own creative concepts. Year 7 used natural materials like twigs, leaves, and seedheads to create striking native birds, perfectly complementing the courtyard’s greenery. Year 8’s work, displayed in the Art room, reflected their artistic journey with Escher-inspired tesselations, eyes, and original ideas.

This event (my favourite of the year) allowed every child to shine and take pride in their artistic achievements.
