MHS ski trip 2016-17
The boys and girls who travelled to the resort of Crans Montana in Switzerland last week had a time to remember- in fact some children described it as being full of ‘Life Long memories’. A hotel just a 20 second walk from the main lift in Crans, instructors who teach 6 hours a day and stay with the group all day, excellent food and two evening activities for the children is a recipe for a quality and fun week's skiing.
They experienced crystal clear blue skies with not a single cloud seen all week. The beginners made stunning progress with all of them managing Red runs safely by the end of their time there. The advanced and intermediate groups skied all over the mountains and, despite a poor snow fall before we arrived there was 30 km of well maintained piste for the children to ski on - an amazing job by the resort to keep so much well maintained piste open. The children visited the cinema – a 5 minute walk into town, they also saw a world famous Swiss circus whose 6 men performed the most amazing series of tricks and acrobatics. The children ice skated and had a lovely night-time candle-lit walk around the village, wood and lakes. They played games and activities every evening and had a week which kept them so busy it was constant activity and fun.
The resort is being massively upgraded with two new lifts this year and two new magic carpets for beginners - making four in all just for the new starters. New restaurants and venues are opening up around the mountain and with south facing slopes it is one of the most desirable, though little known venues, to ski in The Alps. The MHS group had a week of exceptional fun and progress.
A huge thank you goes to Mr Mathers for organising the trip once again and to Mrs Mathers and Mrs Fox who helped him make the week such a wonderful one for the children.
