Celebration of Harvest

The whole school came together on Wednesday to celebrate and give thanks for Harvest.

House Captains were on hand in the morning to receive the vast array of wholesome goodies that were brought it and took delight in creating wonderful displays on the tables around the Sports Hall.  Each Year group took it in turns to share their music with us which encouraged us to eat our vegetables and share our good fortunes with others.  The Head Girl (Maddy) wrote and delivered a piece on the meaning of Harvest and how it is celebrated around the world, whilst our Head Boy (Alexander) gave us an interesting talk about food miles and encouraging us to buy local, seasonal products.  Milos  gave a heartfelt rendition of The Harvest Moon poem by Ted Hughes followed by a group of Year 6 entertaining us with The Vegetable Rap; complete with cool caps and sunglasses!  Year 8 led us in prayer and reflection and then handed over to Dexter who started our whole school song of Food Glorious Food with a confident solo.

Many thanks for all the food that was donated which has been delivered to St Augustine’s Church in Tunbridge Wells who distribute it to those in need in the local area.
