Year 3 Carol Service

The Year was 1843.  The chapel was beautifully decorated in traditional evergreen ...........

Worshippers gathered to retell the story of the Nativity. Carols were sung ….  and cameras beeped and tablets flashed…. Hang on a minute!  No, this was not in fact Victorian England, but Year 3’s evocative Christmas carol service.  Borrowing from Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’, Dr Barnardo, Lord Shaftesbury and the poor children of London helped to remind Scrooge of the true spirit of Christmas by re-enacting the Nativity.  Sophie  sang a beautiful solo to ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ and alongside the traditional carols we heard a serene rendition of ‘Angel Hear’ and a lively finale in ‘The Christmas Bells’.  The children sang and acted beautifully and we were all very proud of them in their first Prep school production.   A perfect start to the Christmas festivities.

As Tiny Tim would say, “God bless us, every one!”
