Marlborough House Christmas Fair

After many weeks of preparation, the Christmas Fair had arrived, and what a beautiful day it was with the sun shining and not a rain cloud in sight!

The theme this year was ‘Festive Fun for all the Family” with our focus being on the children and for them to have a wonderful time.  The Fair was opened by Year 2 bell ringers with Mrs Pay, Mrs Bailey and Mrs Bishop looking resplendent in their Christmas costumes.

The Old Gym looked magical as the backdrop for Santa’s Grotto  with fairy lights in abundance and a pathway of Christmas Trees to bring you into the ‘Winter Wonderland’ where the children made Christmas elf doors, decorated gingerbread stars and created Christmas lanterns before meeting with Father Christmas - who by the way was superb!

The Sports Hall had been taken over by our Year 7 YES stall holders with candyfloss, popcorn, smash alley,  funfair games and dog biscuits to name a few, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Karaoke and Photobooth.

More Year 7 YES stalls were in the Hopkins Hall, with festive gifts, homeware and chocolates as well as some parent / teacher stalls with stationary, Christmas cards, pottery and Mr P-C with his CD collection! A new activity this year was the bottle tombola, where a bottle could be found for every occasion!

A fabulous selection of hot and cold food was provided and served up in the dining hall by the Year 8 parents and the event was rounded off by the ever-popular raffle followed by carol singing in the gallery led by Ms Day. I hope we can agree that the children had a marvellous time and in particular this year it allowed the Year 7 entrepreneurs to shine.
