RSPB's Big Schools Birdwatch

The Outdoor Classroom made the perfect hide for some bird watching as part of the RSPB's Big Schools Birdwatch in February.

In the afternoon sunshine, pupils from across the Prep School spent some quiet moments identifying and counting the birds which landed in the wooded areas around the Specs Pond and on the bird feeders they had made.

The birdwatch took place as part of the Prep School's new 'Great Outdoors' activity. So far this term, pupils have been exploring the grounds and enjoying seasonal fun including collecting ice sheets from the pond, counting tree age rings, writing descriptive alliteration poems inspired by nature, den building and checking the egg box bug hotels for new guests.
