Jubilee Tree Planting

We were delighted to plant a large field maple (Acer campestre) on the last day of term to play our part in The Queen's Green Canopy; a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee this year.

Reception to Year 4 gathered to watch the tree being planted.  Three children, whose birthdays fall closest to the date of The Queen's coronation, were invited to 'Plant a Tree for the Jubilee' on behalf of the school.

The field maple, which is The Queen's favourite tree and is native to the British Isles, now complements the nearby copper beech; planted in 2002 to mark Her Majesty's Golden Jubilee.
