MHS Young Farmers

This term saw the introduction of the Marlborough House School Young Farmers, available to the Prep School as part of our activity afternoon programme. The group will go out of school most weeks, to get a little closer to nature and understand how food is produced in the Garden of England.

On Friday 22nd April they had their first trip. Miss Jones and myself accompanied the ten budding young farmers to Guy and Claire Eckley's arable farm near Staplehurst. The children learnt about regenerative (no till) and precision (using GPS technology) agriculture; found out about some big machines, and looked for earthworms and bean root nodules in the (very dry) soil.
