Pre-Prep Harvest Festival WEek

We have had a wonderful week celebrating Harvest Festival in Pre-Prep.

Our events

Years 1 and 2 joined the Prep School Harvest Festival event and sang their harvest songs beautifully, including Big Red Combine Harvester and Autumn Leaves (complete with a fun kazoo accompaniment).

Meanwhile, Nursery and Reception came together in the Hopkins Hall to celebrate all that is harvest festival. With songs and prayers and celebration for the farmers, the weather, the harvest and the bountiful produce that was brought in by the children. The children guessed the vegetables in Mrs Edmondson's shopping bag and listen to Mrs Boyd talk about life on her farm and then enjoyed dancing and singing along to our harvest songs.

Thank you to all those who brought in food donations for Nourish Foodbank; the House tables and display in the Hopkins Hall looked wonderful and the items were gratefully received.

Funny Fruit and Veg

During the week, everyone in Pre-Prep was invited to take part in a Funny Fruit and Veg activity at home. Mrs Reid had some very creative and very funny contributions, so well done to you all.

Harvest in the School Orchard

The Pre-Prep Gardening Club got into the spirit of harvest by picking apples and pears in the School Orchard. They filled several boxes with fruit for home and the school kitchen. Please click on the link below to watch a little video of their harvest.

Henry's Pumpkin

Finally, we had many Harvest related items brought in for the week's TIM Talks, but none quite like Henry in 1C's pumpkin. Henry grew the 11 stone pumpkin with his grandfather and we are very grateful to him and his family for bringing it in to show to everyone. What a wonderful way to end a busy week of harvest excitement!
