A MHS we love growing things. In the polytunnel we grow plants, in the orchard we grow trees...and now in the DT room Year 7 are growing plastic-free packaging as part of an exciting project called 'Beyond Finite'.
They are looking at how we can generate more products using the principals of the circular economy, so everything they are making is made from natural materials and is completely biodegradable.
The plastic-like material they have grown will now be dried over the course of the week. Then they will have a go at tanning and dying the leathery material, ready to use it as they redesign popular packaging for food or cosmetics.
