Life at Marlborough House extends well beyond the classroom and we firmly believe in the importance of a well-rounded education, where activities beyond the academic curriculum enrich children’s experiences.
A key strength of Marlborough House is the outstanding quality and enviable variety of our extra-curricular programme which is offered to children in both the Pre-Prep and Prep School. Our club programme alone offers over 70 clubs a year, with everything from fencing to decoupage, green fingers to ballet and chess to astronomy. There is plenty to choose from for all ages. However, we have also been mindful of the importance of unstructured play, ‘free time’, which is precious in childhood and can sometimes get squeezed out in ever more busy days. The majority of our clubs are after-school, so our children have break and lunch times free for playing with friends and enjoying our wonderful grounds and woodlands.
Our innovative Outreach Lecture programme has included Olympians, businessmen and inventors who together with our Young Entrepreneur Scheme, aim to inspire a generation to think big and shoot for the stars. Added to this are our exciting trips both near to home and abroad. Examples include the annual Year 5 camping adventure at Bewl, the Year 2 trip to Camber Sands an activity week in Devon for Year 8, the annual ski trip to Switzerland, a bi-annual Classics trip to Italy and a Geography trip to Iceland to name but a few.
The contribution of curricular and extra-curricular provision is excellentisi report June 2015
